St John Paul II Quotes on Family

Willed by God in very action of creation, marriage and family are interiorly ordained to fulfillment in Christ and have need of His graces in order to be healed from the wounds of sin and restored to their “beginning,” that is, to full understanding and the full realization of God’s plan”
“The family, which is founded and given life by love, in a community of persons: of husband and wife, of parents and children, of relatives…with love the family is not a community of persons and, in the same way, without love the family cannot love, grow and perfect itself as a community of persons”
“The Church condemns as a grave offense against human dignity and justice all those activities of governments or other public authorities…in favor of contraception or, still worse, of sterilization and procured abortion, must be altogether condemned and forcefully rejected”

“Christian marriage, like the other sacraments, “whose purpose is to sanctify people, to build up the body of Christ, and finally, to give worship to God,” is in itself a liturgical action glorifying God in Jesus Christ and in the Church”

“Thus the little domestic Church, like the greater Church, needs to be constantly and intensely evangelized: hence its duty regarding permanent education in the faith…the family, like the Church, ought to be a place where the Gospel is transmitted and from which the Gospel radiates…the future of evangelization depends in great part on the Church of the home”

Act of Consecration to the Holy Family

Jesus,
our most loving Redeemer,
who having come to enlighten the world
with Thy teaching and example,
didst will to pass the greater part of Thy life
in humility and subjection to Mary and Joseph
in the poor home of Nazareth,
thus sanctifying the Family
that was to be an example for all Christian families,
graciously receive our family as it dedicates
and consecrates itself to Thee this day.
Do Thou protect us,
guard us and establish aongst us Thy holy fear,
true peace and concord in Christian love:
in order that by living according to the divine pattern
of Thy family we may be able,
all of us without exception,
to attain to eternal happiness.

Mary,
dear Mother of Jesus and Mother of us,
by the kindly intercession
make this our humble offering acceptable in the sight of
Jesus,
and obtain for us His graces and blessings.

O Saint Joseph,
most holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary,
help us by thy prayers in all our spiritual and temporal
needs;
that so we may be enabled to praise our divine Savior
Jesus,
together with Mary and thee,
for all eternity.

(Recite the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory 3 times.)

Amen.

(An indulgence of 500 days. A plenary indulgence on the
usual conditions,
if this prayer is repeated with devotion every day for a
month.)
